Melamine overprinting

Special TOUCHWOOD® qualities also allow melamine surfaces to be stamped and decorated. The reverse side of kitchen panels, for example, can be decorated with TOUCHWOOD® to match the front-side decoration rather than be provided with the typical neutral-white finish, thereby significantly improving the visual appearance

of the product.

TOUCHWOOD® as primer

TOUCHWOOD®, when used as a primer, can very signifi cantly shorten the duration of the many steps involved in the wet lacquering process, and thereby save costs, material and time. Apart from these economical considerations, using TOUCHWOOD® as a primer protects the environment because processing can occur without the use of solvents.

Hygienic protection

TOUCHWOOD® can optionally also be provided with special antibacterial

properties. This type of additive is not only particularly useful for sensitive areas like the kitchen, bathroom and children's rooms, but also in living areas in general (e.g. fl oor, wall and ceiling profi les). This option involves creating a surface that inhibits the growth and spread of bacteria and germs and therefore provides

a real value-added benefi t to consumers with high demands on hygiene.

Edge compression/

edge finishing

Specialized machine manufacturers, for example the companies HOMAG AG or ULMADAN, offer compression technology as a means of filling rough particleboard edges and thereby producing a sealed and smooth surface that is suitable for

stamping.

Crosswinding technology

Conventional reel wind-off units are limited to a roll length of up to 2,000 meters and therefore need to be replaced frequently when used in conjunction with the KTF-70/B. When using crosswinding units however, the KTF-70/B can run continuously

for over 8 hours without a single foil change because roll lengths of up to

20,000 meters of hot stamping foil  per roll can be achieved using crosswinding technology. This is an important development in the industrial application of TOUCHWOOD®.

V-joints

TOUCHWOOD® EDGE FINISHING,

which was developed specially

for flooring manufacturers, adds a

new dimension to the real-wood

appearance of high-quality designs.

Thanks to this dry varnish on the roll,

you can achieve visually homogeneous floorboard joints and laminate flooring with that authentic cottage look.

More and more click-together flooring products are aiming for natural looks rather than a standardized smooth look.

Aluminum decoration

Using TOUCHWOOD®, it is even

possible to achieve a real-wood

appearance on aluminum sheeting.

The commonly used thermoplastic

top lacquer protects the aluminum

against oxidation and provides a

good adhesive base. Any desired

wood or fantasy design can then

be applied with the aid of TOUCHWOOD®. This allows visually cold aluminum sheets to be decorated with appealing designs and to be used in interior applications

where it is not possible to use wood, for example in the interior design of ships, or for reasons of fi re-protection.

Design matching

When inks of different bases

are used in surface and edge

decoration, there can be a risk

of color variations (metamerism)

depending on the light source.

The precise color matching of

TOUCHWOOD® to the surface

design provides the surest method

of avoiding this problem.

This color matching provides a visually homogenous effect even

when different manufacturing techniques are used to create the

surface and edge.

Design change-over

Using TOUCHWOOD®, performing

a design change-over is simply a matter of exchanging the

TOUCHWOOD® foils. The short

machine retooling times enable

rapid design changes during the

production process - without protracted and costly production line

downtimes. Furthermore, the flexibility gained provides enormous savings in fi xed capital costs, as

well as inventory space and costs.

Hand roller/repair device

The hand roller or repair device enables any damage arising

from transport, or other relevant defects on decorated sheets,

to be overstamped and corrected so as to be virtually invisible, thereby providing the opportunity to salvage the material and eliminate the need for replacement of the product.
