What is the difference between LUXOR® and ALUFIN®?

The designation Luxor refers to a colorized, metallized stamping foil, e.g. gold, blue, red or green. Non-colored metallized stamping foils are called ALUFIN, i.e. all those that are silver.

How can metallized stamping foils be disposed of?

In the ordinary way along with household or left-over waste. Waste incineration plants are particularly interested in combusting stamping foil waste on account of the good energy balance involved.

For how long can metallized stamping foils be stored?

In conditions where exposure to direct sunlight is avoided and normal storage temperatures are adhered to (40%-60% relative humidity, 10°- 35° C), a storage life of 12 month should be possible.

Is there a foil that provides stampings of extremely high contour sharpness?

Yes, GTS Premium or GTS 26065.

What foils are suitable for OPP laminated surfaces?

LUXOR/ALUFIN® LK.

How can wrinkle formation be avoided when stamping with cylinder presses?

By using heat-resistant LUXOR/ALUFIN®-formulations like GTS Premium or HC.

How can stamping speeds be increased when stamping on rotating stamping units?

By using the LUXOR/ALUFIN® HS high-speed formulation.

Using which LUXOR/ALUFIN®-foil provides the greatest chance of achieving good adhesion to UV lacquer?

LUXOR/ALUFIN® ULTRA.

What do I need to keep in mind when stamping large motifs using the vertical stamping process?

a) Avoid varnished foundation
b) Convex setting (pyramid upside down)

Which LUXOR/ALUFIN® foils can be overprinted well?

In general, the standard products GTS, HC and also HS are well suited for overprinting with offset or flexographic inks.  However, there is also a special product, 24700, that has a particularly high affinity to printing inks and coating lacquers.

What do I need to keep in mind when overprinting and/or lacquer coating metallized LUXOR/ALUFIN®-products?

a) perfect, sellotape-strength adhesion of the foil to the substrate
b) contour-sharp, glimmer-free stamping
c) suitable printing ink systems (foil colors that dry well and adhere to plastic surfaces)
d) close cooperation between the processor, foil and color/lacquer supplier
e) surface tension of the foil to be printed (ideally 40-48 dyn/cm)
